The ineffable Dao
The Daodejing opens with the words: 'The Dao that can be named is not the eternal Dao.' Our intellectual brain wants precise frameworks, lists and proof for everything. But the universe is too vast and complex to ever be fully captured in human words.
This principle teaches us humility: release the cramped need to have every answer. Dare to rest in the fact that life is largely a mystery best understood by being experienced and felt, rather than dissected.
The next time you don't understand why something is happening – try letting the question stay open for a while, instead of forcing an answer.
